Curated by Avital Asuleen, the program’s 1 Show/3 Choreographers Lab makes space for 3 choreographers to bring 3 different production numbers from an original musical to life, often for the first time. The featured musical is The Real Gemma Jordan which has a book by Anna K. Jacobs (Teeth, Pop!) and music and Lyrics by Rob Rokicki (The Lightning Thief). The featured choreographers include Arthur Cuadros, Niani Feelings, and Katharine Quinn, and the lab’s moderator is Tony nominee Josh Bergasse (SMASH, On The Town, Gigi, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory).

The lab features performances by Linedy Genao (Bad Cinderella), David Nick Alea, Gina de Pool, Mary Beth Donahoe, Nigel Jamal Hall, Maya Imani, Carlos Jimenez, Caroline Kane, Erin Kei, Evan Kinnane, Paris Martino, Bryan Ernesto Menijvar, Jonathan Mousset, Corinne Munsch, Kaylee Olsen, Tia Petersen, Luke Rands, Ellie Reid, Jordan Simone, Matthew Tiberi, Ahren Victory, and Peter Williams. The company continues its partnership with Full Out Creative who will collaborate with the choreographers to film their pieces live. Tori Crow is the lab’s associate producer.

Chip Abbott is a director, choreographer, and dancer based out of New York City. Chip made  his broadway debut in On the Town as assistant choreographer, swing and dance captain to the  Emmy Award winning Joshua Bergasse and was the associate choreographer to Denis Jones  on the first national tour of Tootsie the Musical. Chip’s choreography has  been seen at DanceBreak NYC, Holland America Line, and ACT of CT. As a director, Chip has  directed at Transcendence Theatre Company, RWS Entertainment Group, Hersheypark, Azamara Club Cruises, and MSC Cruiseline. Chip was associate director/choreographer of the  Kennedy Center 50th Anniversary Concert, and the YoungArts Gala 2017. He is a member of faculty at Steps and Broadway Dance Center in New York City and has choreographed and taught master classes in schools across  the country including PACE University, Oklahoma City University, Point Park University, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and University of Central Oklahoma. www.chipabbott.com

CUADROS

Arthur Cuadros choreographed for Boston’s Fiddlehead Theatre, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Bellarmine Prep University and most recently he choreographed the new musical Will Wilson Saves the World part of the Emerging Artist festival.  As a performer he was last seen in Sweet Charity at the Maltz Jupiter Theater and in On Your Feet at the Papermill Playhouse. Arthur danced in the films Isn’t it Romantic and Blues Clues and You:  Broadway Dream. He has traveled extensively dancing for Carnival and Princess Cruise Lines. He co-founded Start Theatrical, LLC with his husband and together have invested in the upcoming revival of Merrily We Roll Along, the Tony Award-winning revival of Company and its upcoming national tour, and the upcoming Mandela, Hamlet: a pop musical, and Superyou.  He has and continues to work with the National Alliance for Musical Theatre as a first round reader for their annual Festival of New Musicals.

Niani 

Feelings

Niani Feelings (She/Her) is a New York City based performer and creator who grew up in Columbia, SC. She went on to receive her BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory. She has been seen in regional productions at Oregon Shakespeare Festival & The MUNY as well as having been part of choreography teams at SpeakEasy Stage and OSF. She was most recently seen touring the country as a swing and the dance captain of the first national tour of Mean Girls!

Katharine Quinn is a creative based in New York City. Credits include Shucked (Writing Associate, Broadway), How to Dance in Ohio (Broadway, Upcoming), The Great Gatsby (Papermill, Upcoming), Tootsie (SDC Fellow, Broadway), Hercules (Choreo Asst., The Public), Cabaret (Dallas Theater Center), Newsies (Lyric Stage, Tuacahn Center for the Arts, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina), Urinetown, Legally Blonde (Choreographer, Northern Stage), Tokyo Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line.
