Mission and History

New York Theatre Barn is a non-profit theatre company dedicated to the investigation, development and advancement of new works.

New York Theatre Barn was founded in 2007 and is dedicated to the investigation, development, and advancement of new works.  Past productions include the new musical Wood (New York Musical Theatre Festival/Emily Miller) with Cady Huffman, and the award winning solo play Child of Hungry TimesNew York Theatre Barn has been instrumental in the development of  Ordinary Days, I Married Wyatt Earp, the musical parody Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make A Good Musical?, Hot Mess in Manhattan, R.R.R.E.D., and Welcome to My Life.  NYTB is currently developing Speargrove Presents, a new musical conceived by the company and based on true events about a conservative Texas high school’s planned production of the musical RentNew York Theatre Barn is a proud member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre.

Upcoming:  New York Theatre Barn (in partnership with Prospect Theater Company) will produce the new musical I MARRIED WYATT EARP in the spring (Book by Thomas Edward West & Sheilah Rae, Music by Michele Brourman, Lyrics by Sheilah Rae)   I MARRIED WYATT EARP is an all-female musical about Josie Marcus Earp, wife of legendary frontier lawman Wyatt Earp, and the pioneer women of Tombstone, AZ.

Join us the last Monday of each month for our monthly platform for emerging musical theatre writers and performers at the Daryl Roth D-Lounge in Union Square.
